India–Russia Textile Cooperation Gains Momentum as Soltex Group Considers Warehouse in Tatarstan
Kazan, Russia | October 16, 2026
Soltex Group highlighted strengthening regional supply chains, expanding textile manufacturing cooperation, and developing new industrial partnerships as key areas at the 2nd Russian-Indian Business Forum “TIME” in Kazan.
Representing the company, Manish Kumar, President of Soltex Group, outlined opportunities for deeper business engagement between Indian manufacturers and partners in the Republic of Tatarstan.
One proposal under consideration is establishing a warehouse in Tatarstan to maintain stocks of raw materials for manufacturing textile products for four- and five-star hotels.
The initiative follows interest expressed by regional business partners and aims to improve supply responsiveness and enable faster deliveries to the Russian market.
“We want to maintain raw material stocks here so that, whenever required, we can quickly dispatch them for manufacturing. Speed of supply is very important,” Kumar explained.
Developing a Stronger Regional Textile Network
Soltex Group supplies natural-fiber textiles, including cotton, linen, and wool products, to the Russian market, with particular attention to the hospitality industry.
Its flax fiber production and processing facility in the Tver Region provides an existing industrial connection between the Russian and Indian markets.
The proposed warehouse in Tatarstan could become another element in developing a more responsive regional supply network.
Looking Beyond Traditional Textile Trade
A key part of Manish Kumar’s address focused on opportunities in technical textiles and advanced composite materials.
He highlighted the possibility of sourcing glass fiber from India for further industrial applications, including producing composite materials for the automotive sector and other industries.
This area offers potential for cooperation between Indian manufacturers and Tatarstan’s industrial businesses, opening opportunities beyond traditional textile imports and exports.
A Long-Term Perspective on India–Russia Trade
Manish Kumar also addressed concerns surrounding international sanctions and their impact on commercial cooperation.
He emphasized that Indian businesses continue to demonstrate interest in the Russian market, supported by ongoing payment arrangements, logistics operations and business partnerships.
His message was clear: sustainable bilateral trade requires active participation, mutual commitment and practical cooperation between companies in both countries.
Shamkhal Ildarov, President of the Russian Textile Association, echoed the positive outlook, identifying India–Tatarstan cooperation as a particularly promising direction for the textile industry.
From Business Dialogue to Practical Cooperation
The TIME Forum provided an opportunity to discuss concrete areas of commercial engagement between Indian and Russian businesses.
For Soltex Group, the discussions reflect a broader approach to international trade: connecting manufacturers, building regional partnerships, and exploring new supply arrangements that meet the needs of both markets.
The proposed Tatarstan warehouse and opportunities in technical textiles demonstrate the potential to take India–Russia cooperation further through practical business initiatives.
